Symposium “Connected:09”

Connected:09 invites artists from different places to spend time together with other artists, working together on a certain theme and in a certain place. Connected:09 will take place in Pöllau bei Hartberg during the creative art festival styrian summer_art.

Connected:09 has invited 6 artists to spend 10 days together in Pöllau. During this time the artists will be exploring the town and its surroundings and will recycle their impressions, experiences and found materials into works of art inspired by and made for the town.

Central theme of the project is ‘recycling’. The artists will be using materials found in and around the town and transform them into art works. This can be done in a concrete way, by collecting old junk and using it to create a sculpture. It can also be done in a more abstract way, for example by collecting thoughts or sentences from local people and
reusing them in another context. The artists are free to apply the theme of ‘recycling’ in their own way to their work.

The invited artists will have one week to create their art works. During this week the artists will also present their other works and projects via presentations and workshops. Workshops take place in the mornings from monday to friday. The evenings will offer a program with presentations, films and discussions, related to the theme of ‘recycling’. The workshops and presentations are open for anyone interested.
